The bust of the young Alexander , who destroyed the Persian Empire and founded a great empire stretching from Macedonia to India, dates back to the 2nd century BC. Found in the lower agora of Pergamon, the work bears the iconic features of Pergamon sculpture art during the reign of King Eumenes II.
The work, which includes characteristic details such as round eyes, thick eyelashes and a half-open mouth, presents a typical Alexander depiction .
The original of this statue bust of Macedonian King Alexander III (Alexander III), commonly known as Alexander the Great, is exhibited in the Istanbul Museum.
